I am trying to disable the auto update on edge browser to freeze version 85.x.x(chromium based) installed on windows server 2019 without any luck. Can someone please help. Is Chrome or Edge compatible with Server 2019? I don't have the LTSC. How do I install Edge or Chrome in Server 2019? Is Edge installed via additional features? Microsoft considers Windows Server the Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC), so Windows Server will have similar policies to Windows 10 LTSC. In other words, no new features will be added to a Windows Server release. Server 2019 is already released, so no Edge as a feature. If Microsoft decides to keep Edge as a stand-alone install you will.
Microsoft is continuing to expand the list of platforms that its new Chromium-based Edge browser is available for. After it began testing the app back in April on Windows 10, it soon expanded support to macOS, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. There's even a version for Linux on the way.
Today though, new download links appeared on the Edge Insider website with versions for Windows Server. There are two separate new versions: one for Windows Server 2016 and newer, and one for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2. Both are available with builds from all three branches, including Beta, Dev, and Canary.
There's been a lot of Edge news this week, coming out of Microsoft's Ignite 2019 conference in Orlando. Aside from getting an entirely new logo, the company also announced its new browser's general availability date. The release candidate it available now, and it will be generally available beginning on January 15.
